Archetypes Alive is a psychologically grounded, experiential approach to coaching and personal development — for those who guide others, and for those ready to step into their own authority.

It is designed for coaches, therapists, guides, mentors and individual seekers who sense that logical insight alone is not enough — and that something deeper shapes their behaviour, their choices and their identity.

Archetypal coaching does not begin with fixing problems. It begins with recognising the patterns already at play.

What Is Archetypal Coaching?

Archetypal coaching is often regarded as one of the most effective coaching approaches because it works with instinctual patterns of human behaviour, thought and emotion — patterns that universally resonate deeply across culture, gender and history.

Where many traditional coaching models focus on aligning thoughts, motivation and behaviour, an archetypal approach addresses the hidden underlying dynamics that quietly influence how we imagine, feel, think and act.

These dynamics are often invisible — yet they are frequently the true drivers of repeated success, conflict or stagnation.

Archetypal coaching works at the level where insight becomes embodied, and understanding becomes conscious choice.

Deep Self-Awareness & Identity Alignment

Archetypes Alive supports individuals in exploring key aspects of their identity by recognising core archetypal patterns such as the Sovereign, Nurturer, Strategist, Renegade, Explorer, and others.

This leads to a form of self-awareness that is not just theoretical or self-analytical, but felt, lived and practical. Clients begin to recognise:

  • what truly motivates them
  • where fear or over-identification may be shaping their choices
  • which inner capacities are dominant and which are missing

The result is greater coherence between who a person is, how they think and act, and what they wish to achieve.

Universal — and the Deeply Personal

Archetypes are universal patterns. They appear in myths and stories across cultures and centuries. And yet, they are never generic. They are always felt personally.

Each archetype is uniquely expressed through the individual's own emotional history, temperament, context, and stage of life. Archetypal coaching therefore avoids typology or formulaic approaches and allows the work to be precise, nuanced, and personal.

Archetypes are not stereotypes. They are living patterns — expressed uniquely through each life.

A Framework for Change, Growth & Transition

Archetypes provide a map for navigating change — whether someone is facing a life transition, professional challenge, relational difficulty, an opportunity or a creative impasse.

The Strategist may help bring structure, clarity, and planning
The Explorer may restore curiosity and invite a new perspective or risk
The Transformer may reveal what is already ending — and what is waiting to emerge

Rather than seeing challenges as failures, clients begin to recognise them as thresholds within their larger developmental journey.

Beyond Analysis: Engaging the Whole Person

Archetypal coaching makes conscious use of symbol, story, myth, and imagination — not to bypass reason, but to include what reason alone cannot reach.

These elements allow the work to bypass habitual analysis and access deeper emotional, instinctual and creative layers of experience. Learning here is experiential, embodied, and alive. This often results in:

  • Greater engagement with creativity and intuition
  • Richer insights
  • Resonant shifts that feel real, not merely understood

Integrating Opposing Forces

Most human beings embody multiple archetypes — and carry inner contradictions. We want to care deeply and set firm boundaries. We want to dream and stay grounded. We want to belong and remain true to ourselves.

Archetypal coaching recognises and works with creative tension, rather than trying to eliminate it. Apparent polarities can be positively re-aligned as complementary opposites.

Nurturer + Warrior balancing deep care with the capacity for boundaries
Dreamer + Strategist integrating imagination with a rational eye for detail

This work supports the emergence of a more integrated self, capable of holding complexity without fragmentation.

From Insight to Transformation

Archetypal coaching empowers transformational change by shifting the focus from "what's wrong?" to what wants to grow?

As clients begin to act from unfamiliar archetypal perspectives, they may experience:

  • Increased agency
  • Enhanced self-awareness
  • A clearer sense of purpose
  • The recognition that they are not passive recipients of circumstance, but active participants in their own lives

Small, embodied changes often create momentum — and identity begins to reorganise around possibility, rather than limitation.

Holistic, Sustainable, and Practical

Unlike approaches that focus narrowly on goals or performance, archetypal coaching engages the whole person — mind, body, and inner life.

Because it works with deep-rooted patterns rather than surface behaviours alone, change tends to be sustainable rather than short-lived. The work integrates naturally into daily life, relationships, leadership and decision-making.

Applicable Across Life Contexts

Insights generated by the Archetypes Alive framework can be applied across many contexts:

  • Relationships and Intimacy
  • Creativity and Vocation
  • Personal Development and Life Transitions
  • Work and Career
The Lover may guide deeper and more joyful engagement
The Transformer may clarify what is being prompted to change
The Sovereign may endorse authority and purposeful direction

Psychological & Cultural Foundations

Archetypal coaching draws from a rich lineage including:

  • Jungian in-depth psychology
  • Myth and storytelling traditions
  • Contemporary leadership and developmental models

This cultural and psychological grounding lends the work both credibility and resonance — clients recognise themselves in the language, metaphors and patterns.

Stories speak where analysis alone cannot.

Why Archetypes Alive?

  • Psychological depth
  • Cultural vibrancy
  • Emotional resonance
  • Practical embodiment and application

It offers a way to work with complexity without losing clarity — and supports growth without reducing people to problems.

Whether you are a practitioner seeking a robust framework, or an individual ready to engage your life more consciously, this work invites you to meet yourself and others with greater awareness, flexibility, and choice.

For generations, we have inherited a narrow set of inner patterns — ways of perceiving, relating, deciding, and acting that we didn't consciously choose. The result? A quiet cost that shows up in stress, relational friction, stalled creativity, and repeated life loops.

The Invitation

A growing number of people — coaches, therapists, mentors, and those navigating change — are recognising that something deeper is asking to evolve. Not because something is wrong, but because our existing maps are no longer adequate for the terrain ahead.

These practitioners and individuals need more than frameworks. They need a living map of human potential — one that names both gifts and shadows, and offers genuine agency rather than fixed categories.

The Cost of Narrow Patterns

Most of us rely on a limited set of archetypal patterns. This isn't failure — it's how we adapt. But over time, what once served us can become a constraint. Without language for what's happening, or tools to work with it, people can feel stuck — in relationships, in roles, in themselves.

The Ripple Effect

When a practitioner deepens their archetypal literacy, it ripples outward — into their clients, their communities, and the quality of work they bring to the world. When an individual learns to recognise and consciously work with their own patterns, it changes how they show up for others.

This is why Archetypes Alive matters. It's about equipping people with tools, understanding, and presence — to move from reactive patterns to conscious choice, and from confusion to clarity.

For as long as human beings have told stories, archetypes have been present — recognisable patterns of character, motivation, and meaning that recur across cultures, mythologies, and lives. They are not invented; they are discovered.

Archetypes Alive draws on over three decades of archetypal and mythodramatic practice. It stands in dialogue with Jungian psychology, systemic approaches, and contemporary personal development — offering a practical, psychologically grounded approach to this ancient territory.

What People Need Now

People don't need more personality labels or fixed type systems. Rather, we need containers for genuine self-inquiry — maps that hold complexity, language that brings precision without pathology, and methods that hold up in real life.

At the same time, the demand on practitioners is intensifying. Those who guide and support others are being asked to work with deeper patterns — identity, purpose, shadow, transition — often without adequate frameworks.

A Living Map

At the heart of Archetypes Alive is a 10 Archetypes model, organised across five core realms of human life: Order, Relationship, Creativity, Change, and Action. Each archetype represents a distinct way of perceiving the world, relating to others, making decisions, and exercising influence — and carries both a gift when used consciously, and a shadow when not.

The Archetypes Alive approach aims to raise the bar of competence and self-awareness for practitioners and individuals alike — providing clear models that can be learned, experienced, and applied across a wide range of contexts.

No particular belief system is required. Just clear maps, lived experience, and methods that hold up in real life.

Do I need previous experience with archetypes or Jungian psychology?

No. The only prerequisite is a genuine interest in your own development and a desire to work more consciously with human patterns. Many participants come with some background in psychology or coaching, but it is not required.

Do I need to be a therapist or qualified practitioner?

No. Archetypes Alive welcomes people from all professional backgrounds — coaches, mentors, therapists, counsellors, facilitators, and those in personal development. The work is designed to integrate alongside existing modalities, not replace them.

What's included in the investment?

The course fee includes: a pre-training Zoom check-in, all training and materials, single room accommodation (for residential programmes), all meals and refreshments, and a comprehensive illustrated practice handbook.

What should I bring?

You'll be sent a detailed list after registration, but essentials include: appropriate clothing for indoor and outdoor work, a notebook and pen, personal items for an overnight stay, and an open mind and willing heart.

How is this different from personality typing or other assessment tools?

This is not personality typing. Archetypes are not fixed categories — they are patterns that shift depending on context, awareness, and choice. The work focuses on pattern literacy: learning to recognise what's active, what's absent, and what's possible. It is learned through experience, reflection, and practice — not through a report.
